The Lockheed AP-3C Orion serves the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in various roles, including supporting naval fleets, conducting maritime surveillance, supplying search and rescue missions, and engaging in anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare. Originally P-3C models, the 18 AP-3C Orions underwent a modernization program between 1997 and 2005. This upgrade process, intended to enhance the aircraft's capabilities, encountered system integration challenges, causing a three-year delay in completion.
