Australian Air Force PAC CT-4 Airtrainer Hawaiian Shirt Information
The CT-4 Airtrainer's development stemmed from two key factors that emerged in the early 1970s. Firstly, the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) chosen basic trainer, the T6/24 Airtourer, failed to meet their requirements. Secondly, the foresightful management of Australian Aircraft Services Limited (AESL) exercised a previously held option on the Victa Aircruiser's production rights. This vision led to the adaptation of the Aircruiser into the CT-4 Airtrainer we know today. The inaugural flight of the first CT-4 Airtrainer (serial number 001 ZK-DGY) successfully occurred in February 1972, meeting the RAAF's tender requirements in a timely manner. Production of the aircraft resurfaced under the banner of Pacific Aerospace (PAC) in 1990. This shift coincided with the RAAF's decision to civilianize basic training and sell off the majority of their CT-4A Airtrainers.
